MAKING TRAVESIA SAFE - LIGHTING UP THE STREETS

The luxury of street lights are so widespread and common in major cities that they hardly get noticed. This is not the reality for small developing Garifuna towns like Travesia. The communities lack of street lighting, makes it extremely dangerous to drive or walk in anything but clear and sunny conditions. Walking home in the dark is an uncomfortable and unsafe feeling for many of the residents and visitors that pass and live in the town.

This was a huge issue that needed to be addressed quickly. With this in mind Garifuna Enlace USA and Honduras decided to collaborate with the Patronato of Travesia to set a goal to install 80 street lights all over the community. The installation of these street lights will enhance the appearance of the town while making it safer to be outside after sundown. With your help we can ensure that towns like Travesia can receive the essential necessity of light after sundown. We are in need of 80 street lights and we are collecting donations to reach this goal.

Cost of one lamp is $50 each (1,100 lempiras)
